Where is RamPantry located?

RamPantry is located in room 121 of the Students Commons behind the lockers. Check with the Student Commons information desk if you cannot find us.

When is RamPantry open?

The pantry is open from 11am-5pm every Wednesday and Thursday. Please check our social media page for any changes to the schedule.

Am I eligible to use the pantry?

VCU students with a valid VCU ID, may determine their eligibility for the pantry by completing the new user survey upon your first visit. For more specific eligibility information, please email rampantry@vcu.edu.

When can I use the pantry?

You can use the pantry from 11am-5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If these timings do not work for you, please email vcurampantry@gmail.com.

What do I need to bring with me in order to use the pantry?

You are required to bring a valid VCU student ID.

How often am I allowed to use the pantry?

You may use the pantry once per week.

How many items am I allowed to take?

The number of items you are allowed to take depends on the number of users that you are supporting. If you are supporting 1 person (yourself), you may take up to 5 items. If you are supporting 2 people, you may take up to 8 items. If you are supporting 4 or more people, you may take up to 10 items. Users can take an unlimited amount of bread, produce, and hygiene products.

FAQ - Donors

I am in an organization that is interested in partnering with RamPantry for a food drive. How can I set this up?

Any requests for coordinating a food drive should be directed to our email: vcurampantry@gmail.com. We will then get back to you on specific guidelines for the drive and how we can coordinate the transfer of food.

What items are in need?

RamPantry accepts non-perishable items, perishable food items, canned goods, hygiene products, etc. Please try to donate healthy, nutritious foods.

FAQ - Volunteers

In what ways can I volunteer with RamPantry?

We need volunteers to help check eligibility and assist users during pantry operating hours. Shifts may include other pantry duties like stocking and cleaning up. We also ask for volunteers during weekly stocking and sorting of donated goods.

How do I sign-up to volunteer?

Please email vcurampantry@gmail.com for information regarding upcoming training sessions and to be added to the newsletter mailing list. Volunteer trainings are generally held at the beginning of each semester (Fall and Spring).

How do I sign-up for a volunteer slot?

All trained volunteers receive a weekly email that indicates available volunteer slots. On the sign-up sheet, leave your full name and your VCU email address

What happens if I miss a volunteer shift?

We understand that emergencies occur. Missing a shift will result in a volunteer receiving a strike. Missing 2 shifts will result in meeting with an E-board officer. If a volunteer were to incur 3 strikes, they would be removed from the emailing list and would not be allowed to volunteer for the rest of the semester. Volunteers are expected to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
